Causeway Technologies Agreement With Kier Group
Success for Causeway as construction giant Kier signs up to world-class ECM software.
Causeway Technologies, a leading supplier of software solutions to the construction industry, has signed a landmark agreement with UK construction giant the Kier Group plc for 7000 users to have access to Causeway's world-beating Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software.
The Kier Group, a leading building and civil engineering contractor with 7000 staff worldwide and an annual turnover in excess of £1.4bn, chose Causeway's product following a rigorous selection process to source a state-of the-art single solution, document-management tool that could accommodate a variety of needs including managing all product information, drawings, specifications and contract-related information.
The Kier Group is the latest major contractor to take advantage of Causeway's content management tools for sharing project information and corporate knowledge across the enterprise.
The announcement strengthens Causeway's position in the construction industry as the only supplier to offer both a hosted service and enterprise software solution in a single comprehensive product.
Before final selection, Kier asked eight companies to tender for the contract, three of which were invited to demonstrate their software.
A working party selected Causeway's ECM to take part in a three-month pilot scheme for two projects involving a major supermarket chain.
Terry Walker, IT manager, Kier Group, said: "The pilot scheme involved working on two projects for a major supermarket chain - a refurbishment and a design-and-build project.
All information relating to the projects was delivered to a central point, scanned and then loaded onto the Causeway system so that both site and office-based staff could view it.
The ease and speed with which the system operated, quickly convinced us that we had made the right decision." Following the successful trial period Kier Group is currently rolling Causeway's ECM out across the whole group.
"Causeway was in tune with our needs throughout, and able to tailor the system to suit our business perfectly.
The benefits of this are myriad - we have better control over contract information and email, as well as being able to automatically archive information as we go along.
Causeway's ECM software is, in our view, by far the best system for construction projects," added Walker.
Phil Brown, Causeway's CEO, said: "Because it can be deployed to suit an organisation's specific requirements, Causeway's ECM provides exactly the right kind of flexible, comprehensive and secure content management and collaborative environment required by the Kier Group.
Project messaging, memos, requests for information, and discussion forum facilities ensure that vital communication takes place quickly and transparently.".
