Jewson and supply-chain partners Graham and Frazer have chosen to use Causeway Tradex to trade electronically with Alfred McAlpine plc.

Causeway Technologies, a leading supplier of software solutions to the construction industry, has signed an agreement with UK builders' merchants Jewson, and supply-chain partners Graham and Frazer, to use Causeway Tradex to trade electronically with Alfred McAlpine plc The announcement makes Jewson, Graham and Frazer, the latest in a growing list of industry adopters of Causeway's electronic invoicing solution

All exchanging and storing of documents with Alfred McAlpine will now be handled electronically, significantly reducing administrative costs and the time spent tracking paperwork such as invoices, orders, and dispatch notes.

Causeway Tradex is an industry-wide, fully-integrated electronic trading document exchange that integrates seamlessly with back office systems used by supply-chain partners.

The system is designed to speed up, and cut the cost of document processing, eliminating the need for paper-based document handling and manual re-keying.

Jewson is part of Saint-Gobain Building Distribution (SGBD), the largest of nine Saint-Gobain businesses represented in the UK and Ireland with over 11,500 employees operating through more than 600 branches.

Plumbing and heating specialists Graham, and civil engineering products supplier Frazer, both operating divisions of SGBD, are also included in the new deal which will guarantee the smooth delivery of electronic invoices across the three divisions.

To ensure the widest possible application of Tradex, the industry information exchange standards developed under the Construction Industry Trading Electronically initiative were used to provide maximum flexibility within the central exchange.

Other data formats, such as those provided by the Business Application Software Developers Association, provide a range of simple integration options, alongside a fully customisable interface.

This allows all companies to establish a single interface with Tradex with their trading partners across the industry.

Tradex has been developed in conjunction with HM Customs and Excise to meet tax control requirements, allowing companies to stop sending paper invoices.

Furthermore, it builds confidence to achieve large-scale adoption of electronic trading.
