New Shape Cavitrays for Stone and Block Constructi

A Cavity Trays product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 16, 2003

A range of Multicourse Cavitrays are now available based on the design of the proven Type X Cavitray.

The new British Standard (5628-3:2001)recognises proprietary trays meeting requirements and study of the Standard and Cavity Trays Ltd technical manual is recommended.

The dimensions of Multicourse Cavitrays are tailored to accommodate the masonry medium used to construct the outside skin.

Trays are available to suit the block, stone or random module height, which is commonly in the range of 100mm up to 300mm, plus whatever thickness (depth) of masonry module is used.

Depths vary from 100mm up to 300mm, or in the case of stonework built against a backing block, it is not unusual to manufacture trays up to 450mm in depth.

Each Multicourse Cavitray features a hinged self-supporting adjustable cavity upstand that automatically takes-up the cavity width encountered.

Trays are therefore suitable for use with traditional or timber frame construction, as no reliance is placed on the inner skin for support.

At the inboard end of every Cavitray is a vertical integrity riser that links with the tray in the next course.

Thus a DPC 'staircase' of cavitrays, each with connecting treads and connecting risers is established, just above but following the roofline.

Multicourse Cavitrays are supplied with a British Standard milled lead flashing already attached.

Following building-in of the trays, the plumber has to return only to dress the ready-shaped flashings over the roof finish.

Available now throughout the UK.
