Wide Cavity Positive Closing + Fire Integrity
The closing of very wide cavities is no longer a problem with a new closer called Cavi 60 Type WCA.
Finally, the requisite build quality should ideally be matched with an accompanying build speed.
That is now possible.
European Technical Approval has been awarded to one tray manufacturer only in the whole of Europe.
That company is Cavity Trays of Yeovil.
Now house builders are able to purchase these approved trays, all packaged on a plot for plot basis.
The benefit of using products of the highest standard now extends to perfect stock control on site and the elimination of wastage.
Improvement.
One of the ETA approved products is the Type X cavitray for gable abutments.
This proven tray has been improved further and can now be supplied to accommodate cavities up to 200mm wide.
The self-supporting cavity upstand has a memory hinge that can take up the maximum cavity width available.
Apart from making the tray suitable for both traditional and timber frame construction, it means the 'as-built' cavity width is addressed, as opposed to the 'as-intended'.
And there can be a difference! Wider range.
Another important application is the creation of reveals wherever a window or door opening punctuates the cavity wall.
House builders can standardise this detail using caviclosers that additionally act as a vertical dpc and also introduce thermal zoning to address cold bridging.
Cavity Trays of Yeovil has a range of closers, the most recent of which have been launched in the past few months.
Some of the caviclosers also offer the accompanying benefit of a fire integrity test rating.
The fire integrity rating rises from 60 minutes (Cavi 60) up to two hundred and forty minutes (Cavi 240).
Cavity widths from 50mm up to a maximum of 150mm are accommodated.
There are also fire integrity barriers to isolate and compartment individual dwellings within multi-occupancy dwellings promoting a Cavi240 rating.
