New PC-based factory automation products increase efficiency and save money.

New PC-based Factory Automation Products Increase Efficiency and Save Money How much time is lost, how much money is wasted, when machine operators work from paper-based Job Lists issued by the office? What happens when a bit of paper is lost on the factory floor?.

The job has been issued to Production, and nobody knows it hasn't been done till the customer complains.

Captec's Katana and Sabre range of Factory PC's - designed specifically to work in the most unfriendly environmental conditions - bring a whole new level of efficiency to the factory floor.

In addition to issuing and monitoring Work Orders, Captec's Katana and Sabre PC's can interface with production machinery as part of a complete MES solution.

Build in a single enclosure, running Windows XP or Linux, and featuring 15" LCD displays, data is entered from a Membrane Keyboard, Touch Screen, Bar Code or RFID reader, or direct from the factory machine.

Models range from low-cost IP54 rated fan-cooled and vented, to sealed IP65 rated with the latest fanless technology, using Heat Pipes to cool the processor and disperse heat to massive heat sinks.

These models are designed to survive a daily wash-down in food factories.

Payback time, seen as direct cost savings and increased productivity, according to existing German and Austrian industrial customers, is often less than 12 months.

Based in Hampshire, Captec has enjoyed considerable success in the German factory-automation market, and now plans to replicate that success here in the UK.

They are seeking expressions of interest from Solutions Providers and Systems Integrators who have a software package to sell to the Industrial Automation market and who need PC-based hardware to run their system.
