Celotex Rolls Out New Transport Fleet
Insulation board manufacturer Celotex Ltd has just completed the rollout of an entirely new transport fleet, aimed at significantly enhancing its logistical service to customers.
The company has just taken delivery of 13 Schmitz Cargobull 13.6 metre curtain sided trailers, to be pulled by 10 new top-of-the-range Scania 420 Topliner units.
Celotex has also acquired a dedicated site shunt unit.
All vehicles have been fully liveried in a striking new corporate design.
Magnus Group Ltd of Great Blakenham, Ipswich has been simultaneously appointed as Celotex' official contract distribution provider.
Phil Moss, Celotex' Logistics Manager, explained that the new fleet was equipped with the latest GPRS satellite tracking system: "This will enable us to pinpoint the exact location of loads for the entire journey.
If required, customers can be contacted in advance with a precise delivery time.
Loading at the factory will also improve, as we will know when vehicles are close to home, ensuring a fast turnaround and minimising loading time.
Fleet utilisation is key for any distribution operation and this system will help us to maximise it.
"We are also delighted to be on board with Magnus Group.
During the distribution contract tender process, they consistently impressed us as a transparent, friendly company with considerable distribution expertise, excellent back up and some innovative ideas.
"It is equally pleasing that we will be retaining our established team of drivers.
They are well known to our customers and are fully conversant with the exact location and layout of their depots." John Stringer, General Manager of Transport at Magnus Group, said that the company was delighted to be working with Celotex: "We are particularly excited to be involved at this time as Celotex, a brand leader in insulation solutions, is currently installing a new production line which will enable capacity to be more than doubled when it becomes fully operational early next year.".
