Celotex maximises apartments' thermal efficiency

A Celotex product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Oct 27, 2009

Celotex insulation has been specified to maximise roof space and thermal efficiency in an apartment building.

The Burbo Point development required efficient roof insulation and the Celotex XR3000 insulation was specified for the inter-rafter space.

The 150mm-thick polyisocyanurate (PIR) foil-faced boards offer an R value of 6.50.

Their insulation is suitable for minimising the shell thickness and ensuring that the buildings' thermal envelope provides optimal energy efficiency.

Celotex's PIR insulation is rated A+ by the Green Guide to Specification.

The XR3000 insulation boards reduce heating needs and lower carbon emissions and costs.

Celotex boards are lightweight and easy to cut to fit.

They are shaped then slotted into place between the rafters and fixed with the Celotex Insulation Clip.

The clip is designed to enable the boards to be fixed between rafters and joists without the need for nails, screws or battens.

The points of the clips were slid into the sides of the insulation and then fitted into the timber frame of the roof.

This was then covered with plasterboard to complete the interior and provide additional support for the insulation.
