CEP Petrarch architectural wall panels from cladding specialist CEP Claddings have played a prominent role in redevelopment of an office building into one of West London's most luxurious new hotels.

The Chiswick Moran Hotel - formerly Adelaide House, a government tax office at 626 Chiswick High Road - has been completely re-modelled by the Dublin-based Moran Group at a cost of some GBP13 million The new hotel provides 123 rooms including deluxe and executive rooms, junior suites and penthouse suites

It boasts a luxurious interior featuring bespoke joinery and decor in a 1950s 'retro-chic' style which Moran Group describes as "traditional British with an American twist".

The scheme's architect, Capital Architecture, chose CEP's Petrarch panels to clad the central facade section extending from second storey to fifth storey above the main entrance to the hotel.

CEP supplied over 260 sq m of 7 mm thick Petrarch in Limestone Matt finish which was Sika site bonded to CEP's 1066 aluminium sub-frame system.

Petrarch is a through-coloured, lightweight reconstituted stone cladding panel designed to provide a durable alternative to natural stone, slate or precast concrete.

Petrarch is available with the texture of the original riven slate master (Riven and Riven Matt finishes) or as a flat surface (Smooth, Smooth Matt and Smooth Honed finishes).

Petrarch is designed for use in conjunction with a curtain walling system either as an infill panel or as an integral area of the facade.

Petrarch is also widely used as a decorative panel for a range of ventilated rainscreen solutions, with the panels fixed to timber battens or an aluminium framework, as on the Chiswick Moran Hotel.

Other parts of the building retained the original cladding panels which were fully refurbished and thermally improved to achieve compliance with the latest Part L Building Regulations on thermal performance.

Although used less prominently than the Petrarch facade, some 370 sq m of Alubond 4 mm thick silver aluminium composite panels were also specified for the rear elevation of the refurbished building.

The panels, formed into trays, were riveted to a 1066 sub frame structure."The choice of Petrarch panels meant that the architect could achieve a high quality finish which was quick and easy to install" commented CEP National Sales Manager Steve Hough.

"Being very light and easy to handle, Petrarch panels are quick to fix, especially when combined with the 1066 framing system" he added.

The new hotel was completed in just 56 weeks from commencement of site work by main contractor Ardmore Construction.

The CEP cladding was installed by specialist subcontractor Sealfix Installations.
