New range of thicker panels from Medite

Coillte Panel Products' ongoing major programme of investment has led to launch of a new product range of thicker Medite MDF panels.

Euro17 million has recently been invested in Medite's MDF plant in Clonmel, Ireland.

The investment includes two new EVO 56 Defibrator systems, which represent the latest technology in fibre preparation.

This new technology has enabled Medite to significantly increase total fibre production, whilst maintaining previous levels of electric energy and steam consumption, and at the end of last year, a new ClassiCleanerTM system from leading global supplier Dieffenbacher was also installed.

With its patented enriching technology, the ClassiCleaner was developed specifically for processing raw material, providing a superior screening result which is accurate and consistent.

Since the Clonmel facility was built in 1983, the previous maximum thickness of boards produced and available to market was 30mm.

The new technology has enabled fully FSC certified Medite MDF panels to be made thicker than ever before, and Medite Premier is now available in thicknesses of 32, 36, 38, 40, 42 and 45mm.

Used in furniture components, moulding manufacture, interior design, shopfitting and a huge variety of other applications, the new thicknesses will offer greater design freedom than ever before.
