Civils, the UK's largest exhibition and conference for the civil engineering industry, and the British Tunnelling Society announce the creation of a new Underground Space Zone at Civils 2008.

The Underground Space Zone at Civils 2008 will promote all aspects of tunnelling The BTS, a learned society of the British Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) will be taking a stand in the middle of the zone

The society will also participate in the show's comprehensive seminar programme.

Exhibition space adjacent to the BTS is currently also available for booking by corporate members of the society and other companies involved in the world of tunnelling.

"British tunnelling consultants and contractors are among the best in the world," said David Court of the British Tunnelling Society.

"The Underground Space Zone at Civils 2008 will showcase British tunnelling, technical excellence and the pre-eminent role of tunnelling in some of the most prestigious recent and forthcoming civil engineering projects, from HS1 and the London Underground to new projects like Crossrail and Thames Tideway".

Civils event manager, Gerry Sherwood, added: "I'm delighted that such an important and influential society is supporting Civils and hope that the BTS and the Underground Space Zone will become a regular feature of the show".

"We're looking forward to welcoming the BTS and all its members to Civils 2008 in November".

Celebrating its tenth successful year, Civils 2008 takes place from 18 to 20 November at Earls Court, London.
