CIRIA Success In DTI Competition
CIRIA has been awarded funding worth £1,774,000 in the DTI's annual Partners in Innovation (PII) competition for research projects in the broad area of construction.
This is the largest amount of funding awarded to any organisation under PII this year, the third consecutive year that CIRIA has achieved this status The total value of the successful CIRIA projects exceeds £5,150,000

They include a three year programme of work to promote techniques of off-site production for which the DTI has awarded £750,000 for a CIRIA-led consortium of Co-Construct (BSRIA, CIRIA, Concrete Society, SCI, and TRADA) and Loughborough University.
The funding won by CIRIA amounts to over 25% of the total sum allotted through PII.
The topics covered are diverse, reflecting CIRIA's position as a member-based organisation spanning the whole construction industry.
They range from guidance on sustainable drainage systems, recycling, knowledge management, tower crane stability and contaminated land.
Project outputs will range from best practice guidance publications, to toolkits, websites and workshops.
Tim Broyd, Chief Executive of CIRIA, said: "The Partners in Innovation programme of the DTI is the UK's premier challenge-based system for funding construction research.
