improvement

Envirowise are working in association with CIRIA to develop an EPIC (Environmental Performance Improvement Club) to improve resource use and minimise waste in the construction industry.

Envirowise - independent providers of practical environmental advice for business - are working in association with CIRIA to develop an EPIC (Environmental Performance Improvement Club) to improve resource use and minimise waste in the construction industry EPIC is a training tool developed by CIRIA to deliver training on environmental issues to the construction industry

For an EPIC to be successful, the supply chain host has to be committed to improving their environmental performance and engaging with and encouraging their entire supply chain to participate.

CIRIA has successfully delivered EPICs for a number of construction firms including Kier Eastern and Jackson Civil Engineering.

This new EPIC is hosted by AMEC and will focus on their supply chain.

The project has appointed Bureau Veritas to prepare and deliver training material on resource use and waste minimisation and aims to reach the entire supply chain within AMEC Buildings and Facilities Services and AMEC Construction Services from clients to suppliers and staff.

AMEC Group work with a number of high profile clients such as: BAA Airports, MOD, NHS, M and S, Network Rail, Barclays bank, Imperial College London and JPMorganChase.

Ken Smith, Director of Environmental Management and Sustainability at Bureau Veritas said: "Bureau Veritas is pleased to be working with CIRIA, Envirowise and AMEC in delivering the training and workshop".

"The training focus is to support AMEC to embed its environmental and sustainable development philosophies into its business through the involvement of not only AMEC staff but also the whole supply chain".

"The training involves legal compliance awareness of waste, minimising waste and using resources such as energy and water effectively through the design, planning and construction of a new development".
