Successful UK SUDS programme extended to
Ireland
Organisations both in the Republic and Northern Ireland are beginning to encourage and the promote the implementation of SUDS.
Concerns about climate change, flood risk management and the need to positively respond to the impending Water Framework Directive has meant that organisations both in the Republic and Northern Ireland are beginning to encourage and the promote the implementation of SUDS The Greater Dublin Strategic Drainage Study places a clear requirement for the implementation of SUDS in new development and the regulators within Northern Irelands are also looking at ways to encourage the implementation of a sustainable drainage philosophy

Following the popularity and success of SUDS training courses held in the UK in recent years, CIRIA, in association with Engineers Ireland Has announce a training programme for Ireland, starting from Spring 2007.
The training will be delivered in partnership with EPG and Robert Bray Associates and will include technical input on the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland planning and regulatory framework in association with Engineers Ireland has announced their training programme to Ireland, starting from spring 2007.
The engaging training programme will enable practitioners to efficiently plan, design, construct and manage SUDS schemes within the relevant legal and regulatory framework and includes a number of demonstrative group exercises and case studies.
The events will be lead by nationally recognised practitioners that have experience of implementing SUDS in a range of developments.
SUDS training modules: Introduction to SUDS; Designing for SUDS; and Planning and implementing SUDS, will take place in spring 2007, Dublin.
Delegates may attend individual modules or a combination.
