Building confidence in SUDS

Awareness of sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) by practitioners and their implementation in developments continues to increase steadily.

Awareness of sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) by practitioners and their implementation in developments continues to increase steadily Recent consultation exercises have identified a need for further training and expertise for decision makers and practitioners to build confidence and take-up of SUDS within developments

In response to this CIRIA, in partnership with Sustainable Drainage Associates, has developed a training programme for 2007 to build on current SUDS guidance and assist with the dissemination and implementation of good practice.

The first module of a series of four events, Introduction to SUDS will take place in London on 16 January 2007.

Delegates will develop an understanding of the benefits and objectives of SUDS, appreciate the contribution of SUDS to sustainable development, gain an insight into the SUDS philosophy behind the SUDS management train, utilise SUDS guidance with confidence and understand the regulatory framework.

The events will be led by nationally recognised practitioners that have experience of implementing SUDS in a range of developments.

This event is fully accredited for CIWEM and construction CPD schemes.

Other modules in the series include: Designing for SUDS, 20-21 February 2007; Planning and evaluating SUDS, 20 March 2007; and Maintenance and adoption of SUDS, 21 March 2007.
