Intelligent monitoring of concrete structures
Two CIRIA have guides entitled 'Intelligent Monitoring of the Deterioration of Concrete Structures' and 'Models for Predicting the Life of Concrete Structures'.
Registration by 13 March is essential if you wish to attend.
Background.
In September 2004, The DTI's National Measurement System commissioned CIRIA, working in partnership with Imperial College, to investigate intelligent monitoring of concrete structures.

Engineering In Chalk - New Guidance From CIRIA
Comprehensive publication describes chalk's geological setting, its origins, occurrence, its stratigraphy, weathering and geomorphological situations, the materials and mechanical properties.
The brief covered both the measuring technology available and the models which have been developed to enable predictions to be made about the remaining life of a concrete structure.
The work has concluded with the preparation of a proposed roadmap for future developments.
The work has been led by Professor Nick Buenfeld of Imperial College, supported by his team of researchers and students.
It has been guided and assisted by a strong Industry Advisory Group (IAG) representing clients, consultants and companies engaged in this field.
As well as the reports to the DTI, a CIRIA report is being prepared to assist understanding of the subject and to ensure that what has been learnt is captured and made available to the construction industry.
