CIRIA promote World Green Roof Congress

CIRIA in partnership with Livingroofs.org announce that the 2008 World Green Roof Congress will be held in London in 2008 - the first event of it kind in the UK to showcase green roofs.

World Green Roof Congress - London, 17-18th Sept 2008 The normally biannual World Green Roof Congress brings together leading green roof experts providing a platform for the latest research, policy initiatives and practical case studies

This exciting and respected Congress will drive the uptake and implementation of green roofs, provide a greater level of understanding of their benefits and stimulate innovation: shifting the perception of green roofs from the quirky to the main stream and demonstrate the business case.

The Congress in 2008.

The Congress in Basle 2005 attracted around 400 delegates, the 2008 Congress in London will be of interest to a wide range of disciplines from a variety of sectors and countries.

The Congress will be a two-day conference, with inspiring presentations, exhibitions, a conference reception, and the potential for a 'green roof safari' trip around London, and workshops to support the sharing of experience, knowledge and facilitating the delivery of green roofs in the built environment.

Conference - The two day conference will discuss the challenges and opportunities faced when implementing green roofs.

It will focus on the contribution that green roofs can make to sustainable urban regeneration, climate change adaptation, sustainable storm water management as well as improvements to local biodiversity and quality of life within cities.

The conference will highlight latest innovations and research to support the effective promotion and delivery of green roof solutions as well as demonstrating examples of good practice from the UK and overseas.

Field trips - Local field trips will be organised to demonstrate what has already been achieved in and around London.

This provides an opportunity to see how green roofs contribute to sustainable development and green buildings.

Workshops - These will bring together leading academics, policy experts and practitioners in green buildings to discuss options and approaches for progressing the green roof agenda.

Who Should Get Involved?.

The 2008 World Congress will be of interest to a wide range of professional with an interest in sustainable construction and regeneration.

Furthermore it will of interest to policy makers and decision makers in a range of sectors not only within the UK but also internationally.
