CIRIA announces SUDS training courses

A CIRIA product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Feb 9, 2010

CIRIA presents a new training schedule for its SUDS training courses to support national effort to improve water quality and manage flood risk.

Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS) provide a more sustainable approach to draining surface water and will become a vital approach to better managing flooding and water quality challenges.

The recent Floods and Water Management Bill has highlighted the role that SUDS can make in managing local flood risk, and proposes to make SUDS a requirement in new developments.

CIRIA's guidance and training on SUDS can help make this a reality.

CIRIA's established training programme aims to equip professionals with the confidence to deliver this natural approach to drainage providing a basic understanding and an overview of detailed design principles to those involved.

The SUDS training will be relevant to a variety of organisations and disciplines including clients, consulting engineers, local authorities, highway authorities, developers, sewerage undertakers, landscape architects, contractors, planners, architects, environmental regulators and manufacturers and suppliers.

The courses complement current regulations and the latest SUDS guidance.
