Firemaster fire barrier system blazes new trail

A Coopers Fire and Smoke Engineeering product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 1, 2005

Firemaster Virtual Door has been replacing traditional fire doors in offices, schools, hotels, hospitals and residential care homes throughout the UK and across Europe.

Coopers Blinds with its 25 year history of providing total SHEVS (Smoke Heat Exhaust Ventilation Systems) packages that have been integrated in major building projects throughout the world, is setting a new market alight.

Since its launch just 15 months ago the Firemaster Virtual Door has been replacing traditional fire doors in offices, schools, hotels, hospitals and residential care homes throughout the UK and across Europe.

Production has been substantially increased to cope with high levels of demand from both builders and builders' merchants.

The Firemaster Virtual Door fire barrier is an off-the-shelf, lightweight design that eliminates the problems of heavy and ugly steel shutters, and is proving to be a superior alternative to the age-old hinged fire door normally found in offices and public buildings everywhere.

The Virtual Door is a totally new engineering concept designed to replace existing fire doors, allowing completely clear, unobstructed passageways - perfect for buildings with a high level of movement through public areas and highly suited for wheelchair access.

Models are available in a range of widths and heights to suit any existing opening, are easy to install and require no special steelwork structure, and stay fully retracted and out of sight - operating automatically, only in the event of fire.

A derivative of the Virtual Door is the Servery fire barrier that operates in exactly the same way and is designed for small to large openings in compartment walls.
