New general manager for Civil and Marine
Civil and Marine, part of the international construction materials group Hanson, has appointed a new general manager for its operations in the north.
Stewart Jones assumes control of the company's ground granulated blastfurnace slag (GGBS) operations at Scunthorpe and Teesport, and retains responsibility for production of Calumite, a specialised product for the glass industry which is made in Scunthorpe and Ostrava in the Czech Republic Civil and Marine is the UK's leading producer of GGBS, a high quality, environmentally friendly material which, when used to partially replace traditional cement in concrete, can reduce carbon emissions by up to 40 per cent

Stewart has worked for Civil and Marine for the last 14 years in a number of management positions, including quality, environmental and health and safety - gaining experience across all areas of the business.
He is also in his final year of studying for an MBA from Henley Management College.
