CJ Haughey concrete project for Aston University
CJ Haughey Construction has secured a reinforced concrete superstructure package as part of ongoing work at the GBP214 million Aston University Campus regeneration.
Secured by the company's RC Structures Division, the project follows CJ Haughey's successful completion of the groundworks of Phase 1 of the scheme for main contractor Carillion.
The project will see the company deliver a reinforced concrete structure that will form a 240 space, car park for the University.
The top of the structure will be used as an all-weather sports pitch.
The structure had originally been designed as a steel frame but CJ Haughey was able to demonstrate through Value Engineering, that a reinforced post tensioned slab structure would provide cost savings and a reduction in vehicle delivery and materials in accordance with Breaam requirements.
As part of the project, the company will be undertaking all design and detailing of the reinforcement plus associated groundwork's as part of a combined package of works.
"We are delighted to have secured this project," commented Conor Hanlon, Director of CJ Haughey RC Structures.
"It is a great example of how CJ Haughey can provide integrated packages by combining its extensive experience of both structures and groundworks to provide a client with efficient delivery and tangible costs savings.
