New plug-in module for EM4 Energy Meters to enable quick and easy connection to Dupline field bus systems without additional cables

Carlo Gavazzi has introduced a new plug-in module for EM4 Energy Meters to enable quick and easy connection to Dupline field bus systems without additional cables The module reads the actual internal value from the energy meter and connects directly with the Dupline bus to transmit the information to a central controller, reducing the risk of tampering or interfering with the monitoring system

The Dupline G63910240 plug-in module fits in to slot B of EM4 energy meters and WM22 power analysers and is powered through the Dupline system for easy installation.

In addition, the module also features two secondary inputs for counting pulses from external water and gas meters.

These count values, which are saved in non-volatile memory during power loss, can also be transmitted on Dupline.

Using a master generator as a central unit makes it possible for a PC, PLC or HMI to collect the energy and counter values via RS232, RS485, GSM or the Internet.

Up to 128 values can be transmitted on one Dupline network, and up to 32 Dupline networks can be linked together via RS485 or Ethernet.

Measuring 37.5 x 34.2 x 36.8mm, the module weighs 35g, features a temperature range of 0-50 degrees C and is protected to IP20.

About DuplineR Dupline is a field and installation-bus offering flexible solutions for a wide range of applications in building automation, water distribution, energy management, railway systems and many other areas.

The system is capable of transmitting multiple digital and analogue signals up to 10km without repeaters, via an ordinary 2-wire cable for flexible and cost-effective solutions.

Dupline is typically used as a remote I/O system, creating a link between field devices and a central monitoring controller, which sends out the Dupline carrier signal and coordinates all transmission between input and output modules.

In addition, Dupline can be used as a simple wire replacement system, where signals are transmitted peer-to-peer without involving a controller or intelligent unit.

Dupline's signal transmission is based on a time-division multiplexing principle that provides a more efficient transmission of simple signals.

This has made it possible to run Dupline on a low carrier frequency of 1 kHz, which is the key for features like long-distance transmission, high noise immunity and robustness.
