Carlo Gavazzi's Dupline building automation system provides an efficient, flexible and cost-effective solution for securing the building.

Carlo Gavazzi announced that it has provided a Dupline building automation system to the North London Assembly Hall for Jehovah's Witnesses, to provide an efficient, flexible and cost-effective solution for securing the building The objective was to provide a system to open and close roller shutters fitted to windows and doors, and to control entry / exits gates from a central location

Distributed I/O modules were fitted at each point where control was required and then connected to a central controller over the Dupline 2 wire bus.

Although a new data cable was installed, Dupline's forgiving nature made it possible to use a variety of existing cables, thus keeping installation cost to a minimum.

"Security is a major issue in any environment, especially when a building is not occupied for long periods of time, so we were delighted that the Dupline system only took two weeks to install," commented Ken Adamson, electrical installer, for the North London Assembly Hall.

"The Dupline system is very easy to programme, field devices are configured with just a simple hand held device," Ken continued.

"It has dramatically reduced the time taken to open-up and lock-down the building as it can now be controlled from one central panel in the security office - instead of 30 minutes it takes 2!".

The Dupline concept is ideal for future expansion or upgrade, as the wiring is already in place, it's just a question of adding more I/O modules.

"One possible upgrade would be to add a Dupline Master Channel Generator with a built in GSM modem, in this way full monitoring and control could be achieved remotely by mobile phone," said Kevin Sheldrake, Product Marketing Manager, Dupline and Sensors, Carlo Gavazzi .
