'Guardian' lightweight modular retaining wall system offers cost effective alternative to traditional in-situ concrete walls by removing need for specialist contractors and easier installation.

The system can be used independently as a gravity wall, or in combination with the BBA approved Secugrid geogrid to create a reinforced structure When used in a reinforced application, the Guardian design can be offered with PI cover free of charge

The reinforced system is recommended for walls higher than one metre.

Compared with standard in-situ walls, the interlocking and mortarless construction of Guardian offers simplified installation as well as increased strength.

It also allows flexibility in design as the blocks can be easily slotted together to accommodate a range of wall profiles, including curves.

Richard Longbottom, technical director, CMS Limited, comments: "As geotechnical specialists, we are always looking for innovative solutions to age old problems".

"Where retaining walls are concerned, they have traditionally been costly and time consuming to install".

"Guardian overcomes this by offering a cost effective and high performing system that makes it easy to construct a retaining wall and also looks good".

Available in a wide range of standard colours, and either a flat or bevelled split face finish, Guardian offers an aesthetic solution that is suited to any retaining wall application, including highways, landscaping and residential/retail developments.

Bespoke colours and finishes can also be manufactured.

A unique production process makes the concrete blocks lightweight and highly durable.

This means the modules are resistant to chipping and able to withstand high levels of impact throughout their life.

The standard modules are complemented by the availability of special corner and capping blocks, which can be used in either a matching or contrasting finish.
