CMS Acoustics supplied its High Impact Mat, a highly durable, industrial and commercial 'acoustic' floor finish.

Atisreal building consultants has worked with CMS Acoustic Solutions to reduce the impact and airborne noise in the storage area at the Local Sainsbury's store in Islington High Impact Mat is ideal for areas subject to mechanical traffic or heavy footfall, High Impact Mat resists wear and tear from forklift/pallet trucks and steel trolleys, providing an aesthetically pleasing, anti-fatigue surface

At Sainsburys, High Impact Mat was installed to reduce the impact and airborne noise generated by the use of roll pallets on the concrete subfloor.

This meant that reverberation disturbance to residents in the domestic dwellings above the store was dramatically decreased alongside further reductions in flanking sound.

John Gajewski, of Atis Real, explains: "We needed a product that would reduce the noise caused by roll pallets moving across the concrete floor in the Sainsbury's storage room".

"After assessing the problem and testing various solutions, we recommended CMS Acoustics High Impact Mat as the most suitable choice of acoustic insulation".

Laid on top of a sika floor screed, CMS Acoustics specified 180 square metres of its High Impact Mat floor covering.

Offered in various different thicknesses, the material was supplied in rolls, 10m x 1.25m x 10mm thick.

Available in sheet or roll format in a wide range of colours, CMS Acoustics provided High Impact Mat in solid black rolls.

High Impact Mat can also be provided in accordance with corporate branding.

Paul Absolon, technical director of CMS Acoustic Solutions, comments: "Sainsbury's needed to be able to apply loads to the floor covering as soon as possible after installation".

"Our High Impact Mat met these requirements, being able to withstand traffic just 24 hours after being laid".

Composed of 100% recycled tyre rubber, EPDM granulate and PUR binder, CMS High Impact Mat is an environmentally friendly and higher performing alternative to traditional PVC, linoleum or rubber flooring products.

Independently tested by a UKAS accredited laboratory, CMS High Impact Mat has been shown to deliver excellent acoustic performance, surpassing the requirements of Part E, 2003.

Manufactured from a non-reflective and anti-slip resistant material, CMS High Impact Mat exceeds the highest safety standards (BS7976: Part 2 'Slip Resistance Determination').
