CMS Acoustics launches Regupol SoundFoam

A CMS Acoustics product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 25, 2008

Developed to address impact sound, Regupol SoundFoam is ideal for new build projects where sound control is essential but budget must be kept to a minimum.

The UK's largest provider of acoustic systems, CMS Acoustic Solutions, has expanded its market leading screed isolation range for Part E compliance with the launch of Regupol SoundFoam, a reliable and cost effective screed isolation solution.

The unique manufacturing process of Regupol SoundFoam injects EVA rubber cells into a cross-linked, closed cell polyolefin foam, providing the material with higher elasticity compared to traditional foam underscreed products.

This delivers superior acoustic insulation and increased resistance to compression and creep over a longer lifespan.

Available in 5mm, 10mm and 13mm thicknesses, Regupol SoundFoam provides impact sound insulation of up to 20dB.

Moreover, the closed cell composition of Regupol SoundFoam has low water absorption, eliminating the need for a separate waterproof membrane and reducing the cost of using the underscreed system even further.

Designed for use with cast in-situ and precast plank subfloors, the material is simply laid on top of the subfloor.

Complete isolation is achieved with the installation of SoundFoam edge sections around the perimeter of the floor.

Quick and easy to install, these self-adhesive SoundFoam edge sections reduce the risk of on-site workmanship error and secure the isolation performance.

Paul Absolon, technical director, CMS Acoustics, comments: "Regupol SoundFoam offers greater flexibility than most foam-based products currently on the market".

"Complementing our existing range of underscreed products, Regupol SoundFoam allows us to continue to provide impact sound solutions for all construction types and budgets".

Providing effective impact sound control for new build projects, Regupol SoundFoam is suitable for use on developments such as social housing, apartments, educational buildings and hotels.

As a foam-based product, Regupol SoundFoam is recommended only for use with a sand and cement screed.
