Aluminium re-cycling - a sustainable solution
The aluminium industry is making a positive and proven contribution and global recycling rates are high, up to 90% for construction and transport applications against 60% for beverage cans.
The practical and aesthetical concerns were resolved with Comar's outstanding design as well as aluminium's inherent strength.
The Dartmoor veranda consists of a facetted curtain walling with opening vents and entrances.
The glazed facade was achieved with Comar 2, which is a 35mm thermally efficient window wall and a cost effective alternative to curtain walling.
The facetted feature was achieved with adjustable Comar 2 corner mullions with returns of 67.5 to 180.
For opening vents, Comar 5Lt top-hung windows were integrated into Comar 2.
Comar 5Lt is a 45mm window suite and is ideal for achieving extra slim sight lines.
For the entrances onto the veranda, Comar 7 swing doors were hung direct onto Comar 2.
All aluminium profiles were polyester powder coated to standard grey RAL, which gave the veranda a smart and discrete appearance.
The systems total integration means the slender sight lines are standardised throughout the facade.
These slim sight lines allow maximum daylight into the atrium and makes the extension look elegant, light and airy.
Alan Spear Limited liaised closely with the specifier throughout the design phase, which ensured the concept was achieved, as well as running to site deadlines.
