Aluminium profiles for Terminal at Farnborough
Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems and fabricator, Compass Glass Limited, supplied aluminium profiles for the Terminal at Farnborough - Britain's most modern business airport.
The Clivemont Road scheme consists of 8 office units featuring extensive glazed facades.
The facades required strength to maximise the glazed area; therefore, Comar 6 stick build curtain walling was specified.
H.H.
worked with the design team to ensure wind loading and U-value calculations were accurate.
The correct mullions and transoms to achieve the design brief were detailed in drawings prior to the site commencing.
Comar 6 was polyester powder coated in bold blue, RAL 5003, and provides a welcome contrast to the rest of the neutrally coloured brick fronts.
Another feature of curtain walling was the bull-nose capping, clipped direct onto curtain wall transoms, designed to draw even greater attention to the glazed atriums.
Comar 6 holds large double glazed panes with blue-tinted glass to minimise the potential sun glare.
For opening vents in the glazed screens, Comar 6 integrates Comar 5P.i top-hung windows which combine exceptional thermal efficiency with dual colour option.
For the entrances, Comar 7 butt hung doors were incorporated into Comar 3 double-glazed ground floor framing.
Because Comar profiles completely integrate, the curtain walling slim sight lines remain minimalist even when glazed screens incorporate opening vents and entrances.
The finished project is both eye catching and aesthetically pleasing.
