The new JSB Self-Check detectors increase safety levels by providing an immediate warning of any malfunction rather than being discovered during scheduled system maintenance.
Modern fire-alarm panels monitor detectors linked to the system, with monitor circuits designed only to check that detectors are installed and the wiring is intact.
These detectors do not check if the detectors are actually working.
Cooper's new JSB fire detectors constantly check background smoke/heat readings to ensure that sensing elements are fully functional.
If a detector develops a fault - even if it completely ceases to function - a failsafe alarm circuit triggers a fault warning to the control panel, alerting the system user to the need for maintenance.
The new detectors feature an integral bi-colour LED status indicator with 360-degree visibility, which illuminates to amber in the event of an internal fault.
In the unlikely event of a detector failing completely, the panel can be set to flash the LEDs of all the other healthy detectors instead, thus enabling the faulty unit to be easily identified.
The LED will illuminate red if there is a fire condition at any time.
Compatible with the standard JSB FX2200 series of control panels, the Self Check range includes an optical conventional detector, a combined photo/thermal conventional detector, and three conventional heat detectors for 77degC, 92degC and rate-of-rise operation.
JSB Self Check smoke detectors incorporate drift compensation technology to monitor and adjust the detector's sensitivity in response to dust contamination, thereby maintaining peak sensitivity while offering maximum protection against false alarms.
