Cooper Lighting design hospital luminaires

A Cooper Lighting product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Oct 9, 2009

Cooper Lighting luminaires specifically designed for hospital applications have featured in a hospital ward refurbishment programme.

A number of wards at Sheffield's Northern General Hospital have been fitted with with a number of Cooper Lighting products including the Crompton Varsity Hospital surface luminaire.

The luminaires replaced original batten fluorescent lighting which had reached the end of its life.

The Varsity Hospital luminaire meet the necessary requirements for ward lighting such as minimal maintenance and the option of an integral night light.

It is easy to install which is reflected in the overall cost of the scheme.

The luminaire features a flush fitting curved diffuser that eliminates dust traps.

The light is equipped with energy efficient high frequency control gear as standard.

The luminaire uses a removable gear tray with plug and socket connection for rapid installation and maintenance.

Half of the luminaires supplied for the hospital are integral emergency versions.

The hospital was also fitted with: Crompton Combiform Plus recessed modular luminaires; single and twin versions of the Crompton Tufflite IP65 sealed luminaire; Crompton Solstar fluorescent downlights with polycarbonate IP54 attachments for the showers and wet rooms; and Menvier New Safe Ex emergency exit signs.
