Shortlisted projects for the Copper in Architecture Awards has revealed an exceptional diversity of important buildings from around Europe.

An exhibition of all entries, followed by presentations of the shortlisted schemes and announcement of the winners, will be open to architects on 25 September in London This major Awards programme considers architectural projects around Europe using copper in all its forms

The team of leading architect judges - joined for the first time this year by Make's Ken Shuttleworth and the winner of the last European Award Kari Jarvinen from Finland - were clearly focused on architectural design.

This year, their task was made particularly difficult by the exceptional quality of entries but, after much deliberation, six projects were shortlisted for the European category and, separately, five from the UK.

Projects located in Spain, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany and Estonia were shortlisted, demonstrating contrasting scales and applications ranging from major public buildings to a modest live/work space - and even a biomass power station.

In the UK, buildings by Feilden Clegg Bradley, Keith Williams, Allies and Morrison, Panter Hudspith and Henning Larsens Tegnestue with BDP were shortlisted.

All 74 built project entries from around Europe and schemes entered for the UK Student Prize will be on show to architects at the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, 1 Carlton House Terrace, London from 11.00 until 16.30 on Tuesday 25 September.

Architects are also invited to an evening presentation of the shortlisted projects and an opportunity to meet the designers: contact helpline@copperdev.co.uk for a reservation.
