CPI Provides A Colourful Combination!
CPI EuroMix, world leaders in dry mortar technology, has been chosen to help turn the architectural vision of Oxford's new Nuffield hospital into a colourful reality.
CPI EuroMix, world leaders in dry mortar technology, has been chosen to help turn the architectural vision of Oxford's new Nuffield hospital into a colourful reality - by supplying a range of coloured mortars that will blend seamlessly with the numerous colours of bricks.
To create an original and exciting look for the new hospital, architects have specified four very different coloured bricks including dark blue engineering bricks, all of which required matching mortars to create an uninterrupted fa?ade to the various parts of the building.
CPI met the challenge demonstrating their ability to produce bespoke mortars to exactly match the specified bricks.
Traditionally a service that was necessary for new developments built up around heritage sites, CPI's new colour matching scheme even extends to the company producing a trial mix for customers to ensure it meets their exact requirements.
In total four mortars were specified - natural and buff from CPI's standard range and bespoke mortars in golden brown and black - to work in harmony with the brick colour.
Coloured mortars, in common with all CPI mixes, require no retarders.
This means that contractors can be confident of normal setting and curing at all times of the year.
CPI can guarantee consistency with every mix that leaves any of its plants due to the exacting standards that are in force at every factory, all of which operate under the quality assurance scheme BS EN ISO 9001:2000, the international standard of excellence.
The mortars are supplied to site in silos, which are simply connected to power and water ready to provide mixed mortar as the push of a button.
As required the silos, which can contain up to 30 tonnes of dry material, are refilled by tanker allowing an uninterrupted supply or mortar.
The silo system offers a number of other site benefits including guaranteed mix proportions, speed and minimal wastage.
Pioneered in the UK and Ireland by CPI, dry mortar silo technology has transformed a traditional market.
With the addition of CPI's ability to produce any colour of mortar, it really is now a case of only being limited by your imagination.
When completed the £22m hospital, being built by Shepherd Construction, will incorporate six operating theatres, 24 consulting rooms, 70 bedrooms and six ITU (Intensive Therapy Unit) bedrooms together with underground basement car parking for 120 cars.
