Cressall will be showing samples taken from its range of low noise ES braking resistors.
This range has recently been augmented by the addition of 1.0 and 2.0kW sizes.
These new ratings complement the existing array, which includes 0.6, 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5kW versions with resistance values from 3.9andOmega; to 330andOmega;.
The 1.0 and 2.0 kW sizes are often required for smaller lifts where there is need to cope with high levels of regenerated energy in a very compact space.
"The lift industry offers significant potential," explained Martin Nicholls, a director of Cressall Resistors.
"Naturally this is good for us".
"However, it's also a market where there is a high degree of standardisation in tandem with high volume".
"As a result, it's an area where we are able to develop a good deal of expertise and a trusting relationship with our customers".
"Our low acoustic noise ES series is particularly useful in MRL (machine room less) lifts where the controls are built into the envelope of the lift shaft, rather than contained in a separate room".
"The braking resistor makes no noise when it operates, this is essential as a lift shaft is in effect a resonant chamber which can amplify noise and affect the quality of the ride for the lift passengers".
As well as motor control on elevators the ES series also finds applications on conveyors, cranes and winches and test loads.
A choice of termination method and accessories keeps both purchase and installation cost low.
Every continuous power rating in the range is available in ES - S and ES - P versions.
The ES - S range allows for connection via screw terminals with an optional thermal trip and/or terminal cover, while the ES - P range has through panel terminals and optional thermal trip.
