Alternative To Leathergrain Plastisol

Colorcoat Armacor from Corus Colors, the UK's largest manufacturer of organic-coated steel to the construction industry, has been specified for glass giant Saint-Gobain's new extension.

Colorcoat Armacor from Corus Colors, the UK's largest manufacturer of organic-coated steel to the construction industry, has been specified for glass giant Saint-Gobain's new extension to its flat glass manufacturing facility in Eggborough, near Selby, in the form of R32/1000 panels on the roof and C32/1000 panels on the walls from Corus Panels and Profiles Directly specified by Saint-Gobain properties, Colorcoat Armacor has provided the new extension to the glass manufacturing facility with a durable, colour-coated cladding but one that is a lower-priced alternative to an old-fashioned leathergrain plastisol coating

Specified in Goosewing Grey for both the exterior and interior of the new extension and the roof, Colorcoat Armacor has provided the complete building envelope, totaling an area of 10,000m2, with a durable finish that stands-up to the variable climatic conditions of the exterior and the dusty interior of the raw material section of the flat glass production line.

Alan McLenaghan, Plant Director, Saint-Gobain comments: "Saint-Gobain specified Colorcoat Armacor as it was a cost effective alternative to the old fashioned leathergrain plastisol that is commonly used on industrial buildings of this nature.

The product had to stand-up to the rigours of our production process." Developed as a cost-effective yet durable cladding material suitable for a variety of building projects, the paint coating system of Colorcoat Armacor was reformulated in one of Corus Colors' largest-ever technical performance studies with the resulting material new in all but name.

The launch of Colorcoat Armacor has resulted in a series of orders from across the UK and a large number of sales enquiries and literature requests, as Rodney Rice, Product Development Manager, says: "The orders placed and the large number of enquiries that we've received for Colorcoat Armacor has far exceeded our expectations.

Feedback tells us that this is because so many wall and roof cladding projects are not allocated the budget for high-durability cladding coating products, such as HPS200 by Corus, but still require a durable topcoat with scratch and abrasion resistance.

Sales indicate that Colorcoat Armacor is a perfect product for what was, until now, a huge gap in the market." The cladding contractor on the project was Oasis Cladding Ltd of Richmond, North Yorkshire, and the Principle Contractor was Stainforth Construction. Request a free brochure from Corus Colors ...
