Metal cladding provides a maintenance free material with a selection of colours and profiles.
Colorcoat HPS200 was specified for its ability to withstand the coastal climate.
The project involved the demolition of existing shipyard, with the site extending into the existing harbour.
The main consideration was sourcing materials that would withstand the corrosive salt environment and architects in charge of the scheme, HGP Architects, deemed Colorcoat HPS200 as the most appropriate option.
"Colorcoat HPS200 is better suited to the environment than comparable systems, which are not able to offer the same level of durability," comments Adrian Crees from HGP.
"The wall cladding panels have to provide both protection to the building and visual appeal and this was accomplished with the use of Colorcoat HPS200".
The design of the building follows a template that Asda uses to instil uniformity and continuity throughout its stores.
Horizontal rockspan Europanels from Eurobond were used for their resilience and Colorcoat HPS200 provides the aesthetic finish.
This pre-finished steel offers superior durability over a long period of time, regardless of the climatic conditions.
This is due to the unique Scintilla finish on the weather side.
For all elevations of the Lowestoft store, the colour scheme was specified as Orion and contrasting white.
Orion is a contemporary metallic finish which adds a modern appearance.
"The use of two colours brings in an element of variety and visual contrast," continues Mr Crees.
The Lowestoft store is part of a £600 million investment plan for Asda which, when completed will see fifteen new stores built across the country. Request a free brochure from Corus Colors ...
