Corus Colors Case Study - Bulmers

At the new Bulmers warehouse at Annerville in Clonmel, Tipperary, the building owners can expect Colorcoat HPS200 buildings to perform well for years.

Bulmers is the only Irish cider producer in Ireland and it represents the fastest growing drinks brand in the country In less than a decade, Bulmers has grown its share of the drinks market from 2.8% to more than 10%

Consequently, the company needed to expand its production facilities to keep up with demand.

The building.

Bulmers commissioned local firm John Allen Architects to design the new centre.

Capable of allowing the largest transport vehicles to load and off-load under cover, the building incorporates distribution and office facilities.

Moreover, this has been achieved in a manner which combines industrial efficiency with clean lines and a colour scheme which allows this large complex to blend into its surroundings.

Bulmers maintain orchards around the site, so visually the building needed to compliment the rural environment.

Clad using a Europanel Extra 125mm and Firemaster Extra 75 mm and 150mm system on the walls and a 0.7 32/1000 profiled top sheet with 19/1000 liner for the roof, both from Euroclad, with Colorcoat HPS200, the pre-finished steel from Corus, the building's envelope is guaranteed to be maintenance-free for up to 30 years.

Colorcoat HPS200, which comes with the industry-leading Confidex Guarantee, is Europe's most specified pre-finished steel product for walls and roofs.

Specified for Bulmers as flat, rectangular panels, positioned horizontally, the panels have even been colour co-ordinated with drainage down-pipes and roof edge details.

The result is a carefully considered building that is both robust and well mannered.

Employing the Corus Galvalloy metallic substrate, Colorcoat HPS200 pre-finished steel is highly corrosion resistant, effective against UV penetration and retain their colour far longer than rival products.

Building owners can expect Colorcoat HPS200 buildings to perform well for years.

John Allen, project architect, comments "Colorcoat HPS200 was specified because it offers superior durability".

"This is backed up by the guarantee, which offers the client peace of mind for the future".

Colorcoat HPS200 is available in a wide range of colours, including two metallic shades, while bespoke colours and a colour-matching service are also available.

John Allen Architects specified Meadowland, a subtle green, and Hamlet, a creamy white, for the complex of buildings at Bulmers.

The scheme has been so successful that Bulmers is now considering adding a further development.
