E-commerce brings new jobs to CSI Group

A CSI Group product story

Chess Storage and Interiors (CSI), provider of workplace storage and interiors solutions, has invested in further development of its e-commerce initiative.

The investment will fund improvements in search engine optimisation, the creation of several product specific microsites, and has resulted in three new jobs at the firm's Livingston office.

Since launching the online version of its industrial and commercial workplace equipment catalogue in 2009, CSI has seen internet sales grow by between 100-200 per cent month-on-month.

The company is projecting a turnover of GBP300,000 in 2010, growing to GBP600,000 in 2011.

Robert Kennedy group managing director of CSI said: "The launch of CSI Products came about during the recession when our core businesses of supplying industrial racking and office partitioning systems was waning due to the slowdown in construction activity.

The idea behind the site was to provide an easy way for people to purchase smaller items such as storage lockers, pallet trucks or bicycle racks.

"Having been operational for about a year, the site has surpassed our expectations delivering more new business enquiries than we could ever have anticipated.

However, we recognise how important it is to continue to invest in developing the site and improving the online experience for our customers".

The CSI Group is one of the UK's leading providers of storage and handling solutions, specialising in interior fit outs for commercial and industrial buildings, and consists of: Aberdeen-based Modul8 ESE Integrated Storage and Interiors operating from Glasgow, Livingston and the north east of England.
