The Council for Aluminium in Building (CAB) has recently re-written and published two of its 'Setting the Standard' guides which assist building professionals in complying.

The Council for Aluminium in Building (CAB) has recently re-written and published two of its 'Setting the Standard' guides which assist building professionals in complying with the latest standards and regulations in the UK The 'Setting the Standard "series of documents has been produced by the CAB since 1996 and has proved very popular within the industry as both an independent and authoritative reference

Setting the Standard No.1 'Patent Glazing - A guide to specification and design' is a update of the original document written in 1999 and covers the British Standards applicable to Patent Glazing, details of generic profiles, the properties of glass and calculations to determine span capabilities.

7 'A guide to the assessment of the Thermal Performance of Aluminium Fenestration Products' replaces earlier 'Setting the Standard' documents No.'s 3, 4 and 6.

It covers the Building Regulation Approved Document L - 2006, listing many of the definitions used in assessment and covers the calculation and simulation methods used.

Other current 'Setting the Standards' documents include No.

2 'Aluminium Windows - a guide to specification and design' and No.

5 'Aluminium Doors and Entrance Screens - a guide to specification and design' The new documents use the latest digital printing techniques which ensure that any changes in legislation can be quickly added or amended to ensure that the information is always up to date.

Copies of the guides are available from the CAB priced at £20.00 each and are available through the post by contacting the CAB through the website.
