Modular Accommodation Facility Completed
By Corus

Corus completes modular accommodation facility at Ashorne Hill Conference Centre, Leamington Spa.

The hand over of a new guest accommodation facility at Ashorne Hill Conference Centre in Leamington Spa has taken place this week The two-storey modular structure provides Ashorne Hill with 27 en-suite bedrooms, ancillary accommodation and circulation space

The modules, manufactured at Corus Living Solutions1 production facility in Shotton, were delivered to the site in June and were pre-painted and fitted out at the factory with oak worktops, wardrobes, mirrors, lighting and plumbed-in bathroom fittings ready for connection.

Since June exterior cladding and finishing has been completed along with service connection and landscaping.

Richard Dore of Ashorne Hill Management Centre, said: 'We are delighted we have a first class facility at Ashorne which will enable us to develop our business.

In opting for modular construction we were able to minimise the disruption to our existing clients during the shortened period of on site construction'.

Scott Carr, General Manager of Corus Living Solutions, said: 'It's great to see the hand over of this accommodation to Ashorne Hill.

The off-site manufacture and on-site assembly of these modules has allowed the two activities to be programmed in parallel, reducing the overall project time, delay and expense on site.' Corus Living Solutions was created in April 2003 with a ?4m investment in a new facility at Shotton.

A new production line, which will open at Shotton in January 2004, will use advanced automated assembly techniques commonplace in the automotive industry, yet rarely seen in Britain's house building sector.

The company is focusing on meeting demand for affordable homes and is pursuing projects to provide accommodation units for the defence, health, education and hotel sectors.

Many clients in the health and education sectors have already experienced the benefits of off-site construction and are committed to this method of construction.

Corus Living Solutions also provides design services as well as the manufacture and delivery to site of fully fitted-out accommodation modules.

Corus Living Solutions complements the company's partnership with developer Redrow Plc known as Framing Solutions, an independent business producing steel framed house structures primarily for private sector house builders.
