Cao Group LED channel letter illumination chosen for EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City
The EnergySolutions Arena, new name for the home of the Utah Jazz, and the most prominent venue in Salt Lake City for indoor sports events like basketball and hockey, and for top entertainment like Eric Clapton and Disney on Ice, has just upgraded its exterior signage to reflect its new name by installing Luxembright Channel Letter illumination from local provider CAO Group of West Jordan UT Dr Densen Cao, the lighting company's founder and CEO, says the arena's lighting engineers needed to feature the new corporate sponsorship and light up the skies for EnergySolutions, and chose the high intensity and uniform light beams of an LED light source as a low voltage upgrade from traditional neon and fluorescent lighting

CAO Group augment its 1 W LuxemBulb series
CAO Group, a Philips Lumileds certified integrator for Lumiled's Luxeon products, has augmented its 1 W LuxemBulb series of LED MR-16 bulbs for accent, display, and target lighting applications.
Right in their own back yard, they found a supplier who could give them superior quality at lower cost.
Based on a 10 LED cluster design, with a pixel arrangement of customized LED lamps, the new system provides the Arena with long hours of operation with low power consumption, low maintenance, easy installation, high reliability, water resistance, and optimum heat management.

EnergySolutions' customers include government, utilities, universities, medical laboratories and pharmaceutical firms.
It employs more than 2,000 people with over 500 based in Utah, comprised of scientists, nuclear engineers, technicians and support teams.
Its sponsorship agreement and naming rights of the arena are the latest evidence of its commitment to the city where it makes its home.
"It's an interesting coincidence that a company called EnergySolutions found an energy-efficient solution to putting its name in lights, and that as community-minded as it is, that it found it locally," says Dr Cao.
The LuxemBright's primary characteristic is the10 LEDs per module (5 LEDs per pixel, 2 pixels per module).
The standard version accommodates 3 modules per foot, ideal for large channel letters, such as those used by EnergySolutions Arena.
(CAO also offers an economy series that accommodates 2 modules per foot, making it appropriate for small channel letters.) The modules were easy to install with double-sided tape on back and screw holders on the side of the modules.
The side mounting feature of the LuxemBright permits channel letters as thin as 2 inches deep, to illuminate letters with a stroke up to 18 inches wide.
Combining these mounting properties with CAO Group's high intensity, uniform beam lighting properties let the arena's sign builder, Impact Signs, use fewer linear feet per channel letter.
According to Impact's Utah-based owners, Bill Baker, Brian Baker and Kevin Anderson, this reduced the cost for parts, and let them complete the signage redo faster than would have been possible otherwise.
CAO Group offers channel letter illumination in a variety of colors; as an example, the typical wavelength for red LEDs is 629 nm, LED intensity is 1000 (measured with an integrating sphere after the device is stabilized), and luminous intensity per module is 10 (cd).
