Caskade Hydra for effective rainwater
management
Architects working on an office building in Leicester have specified CA Group's new Caskade Hydra rainwater management system in the first application of this type.
The gutter will be installed on a building in Grove Park, Leicester RPS Architects of Birmingham specified a total of 52 linear metres of Caskade Hydra gutter

CA Group help reduce build times
CA Group, manufacturer of steel building envelope systems, is promoting a strikingly simple solution that can reduce build times by up to a week on a typical industrial building.
Caskade Hydra is a high velocity rainwater management system that allows rain water to be routed away from even the largest buildings whilst virtually eliminating internal pipework.
The innovative system features sealed rainwater chambers built into the body of specifically calibrated gutters, meaning no tailpipes or discharge pipework is needed inside the building.
The gutter uses two inbuilt rainwater collection chambers - a primary, which drains to one downpipe at one end of the building and a secondary which drains to a downpipe at the opposite end.
The rainwater flows through calibrated anti-vortex inlets into the primary chamber, which is designed to cater for the initial rainwater capacity of the roof.
Should the primary channel reach capacity, such as in extreme storm conditions, the secondary channel is brought into play, as an operational overflow and failsafe system to further protect the building.
Phil Atkinson, CA Group's business development manager, comments, "With the incredibly wet summer we've just seen, Caskade Hydra's functionality has become ever more evident".
"Traditional systems struggle with rain water hitting a cold steel roof and then travelling through warm internal pipes which, due to expansion and contraction considerations, need to be bracketed and restrained".
"As bigger and bigger buildings are built the critical consideration of internal pipework becomes more and more vital".
"With Caskade Hydra, this problem is eliminated".
"This application of Caskade is on a relatively small building compared with the gutter's capability, which demonstrates the importance of effective rainwater management no matter the size of your building".
CA Group's revolutionary new hydraulic gutter system Caskade Hydra was launched in March 2007and several orders have already been taken since it has been proven in use both at Sheffield University and at CA Group's headquarters.
The three storey Leicester building will be used as office space and is set for completion in March 2008.
