CA Group installs large single roof sheet for M+S

A CA Group product story

CA Group has completed work on a Marks and Spencer's distribution centre, using CA Building Products' roofing system River-Therm on the roof and Twin-Therm on the walls.

ProLogis selected CA Roofing Services to provide and install the roof for the building, the largest in the MandS property portfolio, and installation was completed within 12 weeks.

A key aspect of the project was the large size of the roof.

The building stands at 595m long with a radius of 1.5km and roof pitch of 1.5 degrees with zero deflection at the apex.

This presented CA Roofing Services with the challenge of fitting the longest single roof sheet that it has ever produced (of 178m long).

The roof sheets were rolled on-site at eaves by CA Building Products, enabling the roof to be laid very quickly.

As the warehouse design included a curved roof it was imperative that the designers and architects used materials that would avoid water build up.

One of the problems with a large, shallow curved roof is that in a storm, water will be slowed or stopped as it runs off the roof, ponding then occurs and the profile is submerged.

All standing seam secret fix roofs ensure the roof breathes by allowing air to flow via the side lap but where air can enter, so can water.

River-Therm features drainage channel which captures water passing the side lap and directs it to the gutter, eliminating leakage into the building.

The River-Therm roofing system was manufactured using Corus Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra in Goosewing Grey to provide the ultimate in durability and guaranteed performance.

River-Therm comes with a 40 year inspection and maintenance free Confidex Sustain Guarantee, offering the client peace of mind and a Carbon Neutral building envelope.
