A Carillion product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Dec 24, 2007

Carillion working on rebuilding Blue House East Bridge in North Tyneside, came a step closer to realising the project following installation of the bridge deck beams.

The GBP2.2m bridge project, which is being carried out by Carillion Regional Civil Engineering for client North Tyneside Council reached a major milestone after precast concrete bridge beams were installed across the first section of the westbound carriageway.

The first set of beams were installed in early December with the follow on beam installation carried out this week (Thursday Dec 20).

A further two installation dates are planned for mid May next year.

The work is being undertaken in 2 phases maintaining traffic flow on the A1058 in both directions.

The precast concrete beam units each weigh around 22T and were lifted into position using a 250T mobile crane over an eight hour period.
