The eastern regions leading door and doorsets manufacturer, David Smith St Ives Limited once again teamed up with one of their loyal partners, Terrapin Limited, to provide high performance doors for installation within the impressive new junior ranks single living accommodation at the new Merville Barracks at Colchester Home of Colchester Garrison and Headquarters of 16 Air Assault Brigade, Merville Barracks is one the largest PFI Defence projects to be undertaken, and has set the standard for future MOD development

The centrepiece of the new barracks is the modern new junior ranks single living accommodation (JRSLA), where each solider has their own room with en-suite bathroom.
This marks a considerable change from the existing accommodation at Colchester, much of which dates back to the 1930's and 40's, and in some cases Victorian times.
With a wealth of previous installations throughout many sectors including hotels, hospitals, retail developments, schools, airports, supermarkets, residential developments and offices, Cambridgeshire based David Smith designed and manufactured doors to provide high levels of sound-proofing, fire resistance and smoke control, hygiene, security and durability.
David Smith also actively promotes an awareness and sensitivity to environmental issues within their management culture.
All the appropriate environmental legislation is fully complied with including the use of timber from only carefully managed forest areas and the implementation of high standards of environmental performance within their factory.
