As part of vast PFI project David Smith St Ives Limited have been working in partnership with Galliford Try to manufacture and supply their high performance doorsets .

Forming part of a vast GBP192 million PFI project, Galliford Try has carried out works to the schools, three of which are new build secondary schools at Duston, Northampton School for Girls and Kingsthorpe Community College, two are substantial new build extensions and refurbishments at Weston Favell and Mere Way Community College, six are new build primaries and thirty are refurbished and/ or extended primary schools In addition to increased capacity for teaching, the new educational sites incorporate Community Facilities, Special Needs provision, Designated Special Provision areas, Nurseries, Sports Halls, Gymnasia and All Weather Pitches

The new schools are fitted out internally to meet stringent educational and building regulatory requirements in terms of acoustics, heating and ventilation, and security while the refurbished schools have had their existing facilities enhanced.

David Smith St Ives Limited worked in conjunction with the project architects, Rock Townsend and Ellis Williams, to produce a rationalised approach to the doorset specification that would ensure a cost efficient, high performance solution for each of the locations.

Over 2,500 doorsets have been produced, including softwood and hardwood frame options, with the doors being a selection of heavy and severe duty core flush doors, with some offering vision panels.

In addition, the doorsets are designed to meet the requirements for fire resistance, smoke control and sound reduction.
