Quality artistic glass for hotel public areas
The luxurious Aghadoe Heights Hotel in Killarney, moved on to phase II of a refurbishment project to commission an extensive updating of the hotel's public areas.
Recent refurbishment of its public areas included the restaurant, which now features a striking four-panel glass room divider, in which are four large insets of Daedalian's S0003 pattern.
It comprises a series of sandblasted opaque stripes - all with serrated edges - that look equally decorative whether used in the horizontal or vertical.
At Aghadoe Heights the vertical option has been used, maintaining a feeling of privacy whilst adding the impression of increased height to the panels.

Daedalian mastery of style in Arts and Crafts gem
Daedalian Glass has shown the depth of its design skills during a recent contract undertaken with interior design firm, Swags.
In all the Designer range features twelve sandblasted designs, etched onto both surfaces of the glass creating multi-tonal, three dimensional effects, all of which have a place in both new and refurbished premises.
Made at Daedalian's premises at Poulton-le-Fylde in Lancashire, chief designer, Davia Walmsley, and her team work, closely with architects and designers to make their ideas a reality.
Whether in reception areas, conference facilities, break-out rooms and guests' accomodation, the varied Designer patterns create an immediate and favourable impression.
Depending on the hotel theme, the impression can be contemporary and stylish, soft and feminine, calm and restful - or even frivolous when used in the right way! A high level of privacy also can be achieved without the glass being totally opaque.
Some of the designs come in overall patterns, others with clear glass borders or small clear areas.
The full range can be seen on Daedalian's website. The twelve unique sandblasted designs, etched onto both surfaces of the glass, create multi-tonal, three dimensional effects.
The designs may be applied to any thickness of annealed glass, toughened or laminated safety glass, laminated fire resistant glass and shaped or curved glass.
Daedalian's in-house laminating process allows for silvering or a coloured interlayer of choice.
Among recent commissions the Designer range has been used for floors, ceilings, table tops, furniture, lighting and landscaping features.
"It's interesting how the cross-over from the domestic sector, where the Designer Range was immediately taken up, to the commercial market has taken time, but once it started it picked up quickly," says Chris Walmsley, co-founder of the company which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.
"We launched the Designer range originally to illustrate to customers that we aren't simply bespoke glass designers, working to order." The outcome has been a number of contracts for developments across the country.
Sometimes the business has come in by word of mouth, other times through Daedalian's publicity activities, and from other designers and architects who have seen the potential for the Designer range in a hotel setting.
"It's certainly proved a winner," says Davia Walmsley.
"We like it because it adds variety to what we do and brings us into contact with an entirely new group of people with a different way of thinking and that's always good for us as designers".
All the company's sandblasted glass is treated with ClearShield.
This achieves a low maintenance surface, is very resistant to finger marks etc, and also creates an attractive satin etched finish.
Daedalian has built up a reputation for working closely with all its clients, collaborating alongside each other at Daedalian's premise where appropriate, and maintaining a constant dialogue to ensure specifications and designs fully meet expectations.
To this end clients will receive proof copies of their design and layout for approval prior to manufacture.
It is not unusual for Daedalian to supply a series of scale size samples if required.
