Daikin precision control air conditioning

A Daikin AirConditioning UK product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Oct 15, 2009

Daikin has supplied water-cooled VRV air conditioning systems for two stadiums in South Africa.

A total of 170 water-cooled VRV air conditioners have been delivered to the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town which is currently under construction, and the newly-built Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

The Daikin water-cooled VRV air conditioners were specified for the stadiums to deliver energy savings while enabling precision control of individual units.

The Green Point Stadium is the first intelligent stadium in South Africa and was built within strict environmental constraints.

All electrical equipment is controlled from a central control room for maximum energy efficiency.

The conventional method for air conditioning stadiums has been to house large-sized air conditioners collectively in a machine room.

Due to the stadium being a multi-purpose facility, the layout can change from event to event.

This meant a new type of system was required that could control the air conditioning of each individual area, while maintaining a focus on energy conservation.

Daikin Airconditioning South Africa (Pty) convinced the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to adopt the same solution after the successful installation at the Green Point Stadium.
