DEHNventil lightning-current and
surge-arrester
DEHNventil from Dehn UK combines lightning-current and surge-arrester functions
DEHNventil combines lightning-current and surge-arrester functions DEHNventil from Dehn UK is an innovative protection component which combines the functions of a lightning-current arrester with those of a surge arrester

Lightning current arresters from Dehn UK
The DEHNbloc Maxi family of lightning current arresters are single-pole devices that are ideally suited to use in exposed locations or in harsh industrial environments.
Surge arrester early warning of potential failure
New surge-protection device from Dehn UK incorporates a technique known as pro-active thermo control to give an early warning of potential failures.
As a result, the new device offers an 'all in one' solution for all common types of power-supply systems with considerable savings in both cost and the size of the final installation.
The DEHNventil unit acts as a Class B lightning-current arrester and a Class C surge arrester without the need for additional decoupling.
It is compatible with Class C and D surge arresters in Dehn's RED/LINE family and directly with the 230 V terminal input.
DEHNventil employs creepage discharge spark-gap technology, which allows it to be integrated into small distribution cabinets without any further requirements.
The use of Dehn's patented RADAX (radial-axial) flow technology limits the follow current to the extent that a 32 A gL/gG fuse will not trip - even with potential short-circuit currents as high as 25 kA RMS.
The discharge capability of DEHNventil meets the highest requirements of lightning protection level I of IEC, EN and soon BSEN standards.
This guarantees full safety protection from lightning strikes of up to 200 kA.
DEHNventil has no leakage current, allowing the device to be installed upstream of the meter.
Even an insulation test on the system at 500 V DC does not interfere with the device, so no disconnection for the test is necessary.
Operating voltage indication is provided by combined functional and operating voltage indicators showing the presence of mains voltage and the availability of the unit.
Installation is quick and easy using twin terminals with no need for additional terminal blocks for load currents less than or equal to 125 A.
An additional busbar terminal at the output allows the unit to be used in conjunction with other DIN rail mounted components.
All DEHNventil devices have an additional earth terminal to allow safe connection to the main earth busbar as well as a short connection to the protective conductor of the power-supply system.
An optional remote monitoring module (DEHNsignal DV) provides information on the protection status of the unit, including transmission to off-site locations.
