Poole Plumps For Parkalux
Poole Borough Council has used Designplan's ultra-durable T5 Parkalux fittings among a package of measures designed to dramatically improve the ambience of its Civic Centre car park.
With the catalyst of the award of a major Heritage Lottery Fund grant, Sheffield Council has restored and refurbished the Botanical Gardens.
Their aim was to increase public use of the buildings by returning their interiors, containing a wide variety of tropical plants from all over the world, to a condition comparable to the gardens of their heyday.
As part of the refurbishment project, a light fitting was required that would clearly illuminate the pathways of the interconnecting glasshouses without drawing attention away from the floral displays.
A further part of the design intent was that the renovated buildings should last for another 100 years, so choosing lighting that would last, was an important part of the architectural requirements.
For all these reasons, Designplan's Bastion Step fitting was a logical and visually pleasing solution - especially as its IP55 rating for water resistance means it is easily able to withstand the moist environment necessary for the cultivation of tropical plants.
Commenting on the fittings, Andy Abbott, I Eng.
MIIE, project consultant at Sheffield Council, said, 'Our aim is to show off our plants in the best possible way and we knew that Designplan's fittings would complement the greenery, whilst resisting the changes in climate or possible damage from members of the public'.
