Dewalt have just launched the DC600 extremely compact, yet very powerful industrial screwdriver.
With recent changes in legislation surrounding vibration control in the workplace Dewalt has stepped up its efforts in developing the lowest vibration cordless SDS+ rotary hammer drills available.
To do this Dewalt has developed a gearbox which is internally mounted on dampening springs (like suspension on a car).
This gearbox moves independently from the outer casing helping to reduce vibration by over 50%.
The DC224KA, 24 volt drill, has been given a tri-axial vibration level of only 7.7ms2 allowing this drill to be safely used more than three times longer than most competitor units.
The range will consist of 5 offerings: DC212N - 2-mode 18v naked unit, DC213KA -18v 3-mode with chisel action, DC222KA - 24v 2-mode, DC223KA - 24v 3-mode with chisel action and the DC224KA 3 mode with chisel action and removable quick change chuck.
The new design, with the motor in a vertical position, has allowed Dewalt to make these the shortest machines in their class with a length of only 280mm allowing access to more confined areas.
The battery is now rear mounted giving the units superior balance and comfort.
Adding to the comfort, the weight of the machines has been reduced as well with the 24 volt versions now 3.7kg and the 18v units now only 3.0kg making them the lightest available.
The new dedicated motor and gearbox help to maximise efficiency allowing much more runtime from the batteries.
The 24volt drills will come with air-cooled batteries as standard offering more runtime and life span than non air-cooled batteries.
