Level best with Dewalt
Dewalt have extended their range of levelling instruments with the addition of four new models.
The 36-volt platform was designed to provide professional contractors with the performance of a corded tool without the restriction of a power cord.
During the research and development stage of the 36V platform, Dewalt conducted extensive field research to establish exactly how professional contractors use corded tools on the job.
Sensors were attached to the tools to digitally record information.
This information was collected electronically with data logger technology, which is a unique testing system developed and exclusively used by Dewalt, to determine the most effective high-voltage solution.
As a result of this research, Dewalt determined 36V was the cordless platform with the capabilities that best matched or exceeded the performance of corded tools.
To create the battery technology for the 36V platform, Dewalt partnered with A123Systems, a developer of a new generation of lithium-ion batteries that incorporates nanoscale technology developed at and exclusively licensed from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The 36V battery technology, provided exclusively to Dewalt for power tool applications, has a unique nano-phosphate lithium-ion design that offers a high-level of power, durability and life when compared to other conventional lithium technology.
In addition to the battery technology, Dewalt developed the tools from the ground up with innovative features.
The new features were designed to ensure that the 36V platform would provide professional users with a complete solution to perform heavy-duty corded applications without a cord.
For example, the DC300KL, 36V circular saw has a full-sized 184mm blade and a keyless blade change system.
The DC305KL reciprocating saw has a unique 4 position blade clamp.
Additionally the DC234KL, 36V rotary hammer, is equipped with Active Vibration Control, which helps to reduce vibration.
(See tool highlights for more specifics on tool innovations.) "With the 36V platform, Dewalt has introduced the most comprehensive solution available for corded power tool users who want the freedom of a cordless tool.
We value the feedback given to us by our users and provide them products with the performance and productivity they need on the jobsite -- helping them get the job done quicker so they can move onto the next job," commented John Schiech, Group Vice President and president of Dewalt Industrial Products Group.
"Dewalt has a proven track record of leading the power tool industry in cordless innovations, and the 36V platform, once again, underscores our leadership position." Heavy-Duty 36V Cordless Power Tool Platform.
Each tool in the new platform is powered by the 36V high-performance battery pack.
The battery has a lightweight design, weighing the same as an 18V battery.
Additionally the battery pack has the ability to deliver 2-3 times more run time than 18V tools.
For maximum productivity, the battery was designed with no memory and virtually no self-discharge.
Incredibly the Dewalt 36V Li-Ion battery is capable of over 2000 recharges.
